For some reason I am really missing maple syrup season this year. Especially the maple taffy (tire d’érable). At sugar shacks they would boil maple syrup up and then once it had cooled down just enough, they would pour it over fresh snow. Then you come along with a popsicle stick and roll it right on up and eat it. So gooood.
22. The Gumbo-eatin’ Gambler
The talented and lovable woman-of-comics Kt Shy asked for a Gambit waaaay back at the beginning of the month, and I’ve been thinking about how to draw him ever since.
I wanted to do an updated Gambit look, something more modern and sensible, but Gambit is so STEEPED in the Lee/Claremont 90’s-ness that to try to remove it is to kill the patient. So let’s accept, enjoy, and celebrate this ridiculousness.

Well that was incredibly disappointing. Go to a blog called ‘Fat Cyclist’, thinking maybe it’s about biking from a perspective other than a skinny white dude, only to find it’s from the perspective of a somewhat overweight white dude who is using “public humiliation” to propel his weight loss.

DPI definitely depends on whether you want to print the image or not. 300 DPI is fine for the interbutts, but 1200 DPI would be ideal for printing or sending to companies. That way you can adjust the size…
At the company I work for we have asked for 400 dpi images in the past, but it’s now common practice amongst (comic) publishing companies to request 600 dpi. Anything above 600 gets sized down (unless it’s zipatoned/manga). 300 doesn’t leave any wiggle room if you need to bump up the size a tiny bit to make sure the image fits into a specific book layout and any sort of pattern or texture usually gets fuzzed up.
tldr: 400-600 dpi = YES. GOOD.
